Capture The Helen: On May 5th we went to Mags' farm to play a game of Capture The Helen!
2019 WJCL Convention: January 31st to February 2nd, Madison West Latin went to the State Latin Convention at the Park Hotel in downtown Madison!
UW Classics Day: Juniors and seniors from West attended Classics Day at UW-Madison, which included attending their choice of three college classes about the classics!
Pop Tab Fundraiser: West Latin Club started a fundraiser of collecting pop tabs (the metal top used to open the soda can) to raise money for our club, so bring pop tabs to the Latin room and support West Latin!

Mags' Potluck: The potluck was held on Sunday, May 7 from 12-4 PM at Mags' farm, people came and enjoyed food, games, and animals.
Latin Room Potluck: People brought food into the Latin room and we had a wonderful lunch period!
WJCL State Convention: West Latin students attended state convention in Madison on Jan 26th-28th.

October Board Meeting: The meeting happened on October 30th at Brookfield Academy
Eurydice at APT: 30 West Latin students travelled to American Players Theater to attend Eurydice.
Homecoming Parade: We walked in the parade on Friday, October 7th.
First Latin Club Meeting: Our first meeting of the year happened on Wednesday, September 7th in the latin room.
Nationals: Nationals happened July 25th through July 29th
Mags' Potluck: The potluck will be held on Sunday, May 22nd from 1-4 PM at Mags' farm! Mags is allergic to tree nuts, seeds, and coconut. Email Matthew for the address.
2016 WJCL Convention End of January 28th-30th: The Thursday/Friday/Saturday at the end of January, we get the chance to stay at the Concourse for two nights during Convention. There's Certamen, testing, spirit competitions, dramatic interpretation, and lots of other things. You don't have to be great at Latin to go because it's fun regardless of your Latin abilities. We even have a toga banquet!
Saturnalia Party: January 24th, 5:00-8:30 at our Parliamentarian Lauren's house(Address to be sent out by email). A really fun party before Convention!
2015
Capture the Helen: November 1st, Homestead is hosting an event called Capture the Helen(capture the flag). Madison West has been invited to attend, you can sign up in the Latin room. There is a fee of $5, but the money goes toward WJCL Convention scholarships.
Homecoming: October 16th is MadWest's annual homecoming parade. Madison West Latin Club typically walks together. More details to come. WEAR A TOGA!
An Iliad at APT: September 25th MadWest went to APT to see their performance of An Iliad. We had a great time seeing some fantastic acting and a wonderful rendition of Homer's classic tale.
Post Convention Potluck: The post convention potluck/reunion will be held on the 12th of August from 4:30-10(come when you can!) at Ethan Warren's house(2060 Kathlynn ct). There will also be a 30min board meeting to talk about review and talk about convention.
NJCL Convention 2015: Trinity University, July 27th(25th is when we leave)-August 1st(2nd is when we will be getting back). The NJCL Convention is in San Antonio Texas this year, make sure to being you sunscreen! Come to have a great week with the classics, and all your WJCL buddies.
WJCL Certamen Practices: If you are interested in participating in Certamen at the national level please come to the WJCL Certamen practices. Exceptions are noted. If you wish to compete for the team this year, it would be great if you could come to at least six of the practices, although eight or more would be the ideal. Here is the schedule:
- Wednesday, June 17th at Homestead High School, Magis' Latin room from 1-4pm.
- Tuesday, June 23rd and Wednesday June 24th at Homestead High School, Magis' Latin room
- June 30th and July 1st -- Tuesday, June 30th at Magistra Stone's House in Madison, time TBD, address will be provided later. Wednesday, July 1st, Eli Judge's House in Madison, 9am-12pm. Address to be provided later.
- July 7th and 8th -- Michael Kearney's house, 6001 N. Berkeley Blvd. Whitefish Bay, WI 53217
- July 14th and 15th at BA, rooms within Patriot's Hall
- July 19th, potluck at Magistra Wallach's house [10500 N. Wood Crest Drive, Mequon 53092]. 2 pm for Certamen, 4 pm otherwise (more information in following email).

Nationals Potluck: Potluck (and the accompanying July Board Meeting) will be held on July 19th (previously July 17th, but had to be changed) at 4pm. Certamen practice will precede the potluck, beginning at 2. Attendance is mandatory (you'll want to be there anyway). As it is a Potluck, everyone is expected to bring a dish. This year, MUHS and MW students should bring appetizers, BA students prepared salads, and BE and HHS students desserts. Mags Potluck Luncheon: On Sunday, May 3rd, Mags will be having a potluck at her farm from 1:00-4:00pm. All are welcome, this includes parents, no pets. Please bring food to share. Can't wait to see you all there!
UW Open House: Mags has organized a field trip on Thursday March 19th 7:00am-2:15pm. All those who sign up will go to the UW campus to sit in on a few lectures pertaining to the classics. Lunch will be provided at Union South. There are only a few spots open for this opportunity, preference is given to juniors first then sophomores and seniors. Sign up is in the front of the room.

Saturnalia (Christmas Party) January 10th: Holiday party at Victor, Testudo, cum Cor Leonis, Cognoscitor et Pistor (our 2nd VP, Minimuffin)'s house 4:00pm to 8:00pm. There are sheets for Secret Saturn that will be handed out at the Latin Club Meeting, Wednesday January 7th. If there is no school on Wednesday, then the Secret Saturns will be sent out via e-mail. Everybody who RSVPs will be able to take part of the Secret Saturn. There will be some spirit stuff, and for that we want you to buy a white bed sheet from Good Will, so that we can dye the sheets blue, and for the officers, gold. We are also asking for food, whether that be cookies and dessert or regular food. My address is 3922 Mineral Point Rd., which is hard to find, so think of it more as the yellow house next to Bethany Methodist Church.

Novice Certamen Tryouts December 19 at Lunch: If you're in Latin I,and you like playing Certamen during class, come to tryout for the State Certamen Team! West has a long tradition of being good at Certamen, and we want to keep it up! Certamen is a very exciting trivia game, so please come to tryouts even if you don't think that you are good!
Bon-Fire at Mags' Farm on October 18: Do you like fire? Good, because on October 18th there will be a SWEET campfire at Mags’ Farm for all Latin students! The campfire will start at 4:00p.m. and go until 9:00p.m. It will be a potluck, so bring food! We will have s’mores and a grill and campfire to cook hot dogs, burgers, and brats! Dilly and Bean will be there too! GET EXCITED! Parents and siblings are welcome, but no pets please. Bring dish to pass in addition to meat to grill. Lawn chairs and instruments for a campfire sing-along.
